How You Can Help Fund Durable Medical Equipment

blog

There are several ways that you can give back and help fund medical equipment for those in need. We’ve found a few options to get you started. These organizations make it their goal to help people with disabilities and they need the help of our communities.

Travis Roy Foundation

The Travis Roy Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the life of individuals with spinal cord injuries and their families by providing adaptive equipment and to finding a cure through increased funding of research, resulting in self-reliance and the ability to be as independent as possible.

It is the wish of every paralyzed person that one day their wheelchair will no longer be needed. The Travis Roy Foundation has awarded over two million dollars in research grants. For researchers and scientists the most important question is basic: How can an injured spinal cord be regenerated? Researchers are working tirelessly to determine how cells in the central nervous system communicate with one another, but the research is expensive and a cure is likely still years away. The more money we raise, the sooner a cure will be found.

The Wheelchair Foundation

The Wheelchair Foundation is a nonprofit organization leading an international effort to create awareness of the needs and abilities of people with physical disabilities, to promote the joy of giving, create global friendship, and to deliver a wheelchair to every child, teen and adult in the world who needs one, but cannot afford one.

Amy Van Dyken Foundation

The Amy Van Dyken Foundation provides essential medical equipment for people with spinal cord injuries who cannot afford these necessities.

MobilityWorks Foundation

Non-profit organization that will provide financial assistance and or equipment to selected individuals requiring adaptive vehicles or driving aids. The Foundation’s goal is to make the world accessible for physically challenged individuals and families. They provide financial assistance and or equipment to selected, qualified applicants requiring adaptive vehicles or driving aids.

GoFundMe

GoFundMe has helped people raise millions of dollars for medical needs. People have used GoFundMe to raise money for medical issues ranging from Lyme disease and cancer treatments to lung and heart transplants. If you need help funding your own treatment or the medical expenses of someone you care about, a GoFundMe can help.

Find out ways your can help by taking a look at the active medical fundraisers here.
